What I Did: I came across this last year, and thought it would make an amazing birthday present for the toddler I was childminding. She loved drawing and colouring, but destroyed pens, pencils and crayons faster than new ones could be provided. This turned otu to be surprisingly easy – I peeled the crayons, sorted them by colour, and chopped them up. Then I bunged them into a silicone cupcake tray (heart-shaped) and stuck them in the oven until the crayon pieces were all melted. After that, took them out, cooled them down and popped them out. Success!!

Next Time I Will: I wouldn’t make any changes – this worked so well, I would do it for any toddlers who are into colouring but not yet gentle enough on the equipment!
