Win: Sugar Cookie Bowls

Posted under Win

What I Did: Followed what it said and they turned out fine. Usually everything I do off Pinterest is a FAIL especially cooking/baking. I was SHOCKED they were not a FAIL. My crafty friend even warned me that it could turn out awful. I filled them with fruit for a Mom playdate.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: None they were amazing! Just cut the dough thinner than a cookie so it makes like 26 instead of 16.

Fail: Candy Cane Blossoms

Posted under Fail

Name: Virgleo

Original Inspiration: http://www.bakedperfection.com/2010/12/candy-cane-blossoms.html

What I Did: The cookies still taste great but the candy kiss melted flat even though I followed the directions to a t. Not so much a fail just disappointed that they don’t look as good.

My Result:

Next Time I Will: Next time I would cool longer than suggested before placing the kiss in hopes it wouldn’t melt flat.

My Blog: http://angelwithastethoscope.blogspot.com

Original Inspiration: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Homemade-Oreo-Cookies

What I Did: The way the blog was written it seemed like the directions stated that I needed to add 2 1/3 cups of oil, but it actually meant 2/3 cup oil

My Result:

Next Time I Will:  I remade the project that night, and they were fabulous and very savable once I knew it didn’t need quite that much oil! :)

Fail: Rolo Stuffed Snickerdoodles

Posted under Fail

Name: Megan

Original Inspiration: http://rachelschultz.com/2012/07/20/rolo-stuffed-snickerdoodles/

What I Did: My sister and I decided to try this super easy recipe to send to our cousins who are stationed overseas. We used store bought Snickerdoodle dough and mini Rolos. We followed the directions exactly. The first round was overdone so we reduced the baking time. The fails just kept piling up. First fail: The recipe called for an ungreased pan which meant the cookies were fused to the pan. Second fail: The caramel melted out the bottom of the cookies and became super glue on the pan, even when we greased it. Couldn’t remove the cookies without breaking them apart. Third fail: Trying to take the cookies off before they cooled caused the middles to rip out, due to the warm caramel sticking to the spatula. End result: Cookie pieces. Yummy but not pretty!

My Result:

Next Time I Will: We tried everything! I have no idea how the blogger got her cookies to look so good.

Fail: Flourless fudge chocolate chip cookies

Posted under Fail

Name: Mary N

My Blog: http://thelowpointoftheday.wordpress.com/

Original Inspiration: http://pinterest.com/pin/220324606740630872/

What I Did: The original recipe called for fancy dark cocoa and fancy dark chocolate chips, neither of which I had, so the color is all off. But the huge fail came when the recipe said to add 2-4 egg whites and to drop the batter down in tablespoons. I hastily added all 4 egg whites (assuming I’d need to since I live in Utah and it’s so dry and at a high altitude) and then dropped the batter down with a serving spoon. Nope. Not right.

My Result:

Next Time I Will:  I tried again and with about 3 1/2 egg whites and dropping the batter down by the actual tablespoon, they were much more successful, albeit really crispy/crunchy rather than chewy like the recipe claims (but, again, I’m at high altitude and nothing goes right at high altitude.)
